LESSON PROBLEM: What grain can tell the story of man?


STUDY GUIDE

Rice may be the first grain grown by man. Scientists think rice has been eaten for 6000 years. Rice was first planted in China.

Rice has fed people around the world. If there had been no rice many people may have gone hungry.


Today the world depends on rice to feed the people. Rice is the first food for most people in the world.


The U.S. sends rice to more than 100 countries. The world needs the rice to feed the hungry people of the world.




ACTIVITIES



Draw a picture of a ship loaded with rice to take to countries around the world.




EXTENDED LEARNING


Fold a piece of paper into four parts. Draw one picture in each space that tells what you know about rice.
